CARMONA WATER DISTRICT COMMEMORATES WORLD WATER DAY 2025
Carmona Water District joins the private and public sectors all over the world in celebrating and observing World Water Day today, March 22, 2025. This global event highlights the significance of freshwater and advocates for the sustainable management of water resources.
CWD, as the recipient of the Most Outstanding Water District-Category B in the Philippines FY 2024, has fully recognized the water crisis as one of our nation’s greatest challenges and a global concern in recent years that affects many countries to a great extent. With this, CWD, its proactive leaders, and its empowered workforce have long embraced the critical roles they play in preserving water and addressing the water crisis.
Information drives about the significance of water conservation and providing water-saving tips to our concessionaires through our social media platforms are some of the initiatives of the agency that aim to help increase awareness. Various activities such as daily pressure monitoring, weekly assessments of fire hydrant consumption, the establishment of District Metered Areas (DMAs), and prompt responses to any repair needs are some of the efforts that helped CWD to reduce Non-Revenue Water (NRW) to 18%, a result that exceeded the target limit of 20% for the year 2024.
Wastewater treatment is one of the essential and practical weapons to combat the water crisis. The CWD Septage Treatment Facility operation is now up and running, treating wastewater in the City of Carmona to prevent water pollution and help protect and conserve the environment. On September 26, 2022, CWD also received the Certificate of Water Safety Plan Acceptance, approved by the Department of Health, which signifies the commitment to deliver safe, adequate, and potable drinking water.
World Water Day provides an invaluable opportunity for CWD to reflect on its responsibility for the planet’s water resources. With this, CWD will continue demonstrating its genuine commitment to water conservation efforts and sustainable management practices toward a better and cleaner future generation.
